IMG_0996.JPGGreece is a must-add to your bucket list. To begin with it is visually absolutely breathtaking. I could not get over the fact that it really looks like how they portray in the movies, and possibly better than the photos. The magnificent sun setting over Santorini’s glorious seaside mountains, and Mykonos’ perfect white and blue architecture kept me pinching myself and asking ‘is this real life’? Then there’s the food… which is on another level, and what you can get for your money is insane. You have not eaten tzatziki until you have eaten it in Greece…or perhaps in some little Melbourne side street that has the family secret. I spent 2 weeks exploring 5 different places within Greece, which I felt was a good amount of time; party hubs like Mykonos, and especially Ios, I could only handle for 3 nights, but Santorini I could stay and relax forever.

IOS

WHERE I STAYED:

  • Far Out Camping
, Mylopotas: I stayed in a tent for barely anything, with a random other girl who I befriended and went out to party with. As the night progressed I began to notice that said girl was a little bit crazy, and for this reason I lost her and she never came back to our tent that night or the next morning. That morning I moved to a nicer hostel and never saw my crazy roomie again.
  • Francesco’s : Beautifully looked after hostel, pretty sure it’s family run and they totally look after you. In fact, when I was checking-in the middle-aged Greek woman at the desk tried to set me up with one of her other guests, describing him amiably and in great detail (I met him and wasn’t interest btw). There is also a great pool overlooking the beach where all the guest hang out, and it’s not too much of an aggressive party space which is a nice tap-out zone from the over-aggressive partying of this whole island.

HOW I GOT THERE;

  • Ferry from Santorini

WHAT I DID:

  • Mylopotas beach
  • Far out beach club
  • Manganari beach
  • Mirabello art
  • Bar hopping
  • Bar where you put a helmet on, take a shot, and get hit on the head by a bartender with a baseball bat… I don’t know why and I don’t remember what this pace is called.

ATHENS

WHERE I STAYED:

  • Ferry fro Ios.

WHAT I DID:

  • Acropolis

*** Hold onto your bag mother-fucking tight in this city or you will get robbed, mugged, and die.

CORFU

WHERE I STAYED:

  • The Pink Palace… It’s why you come here and is a do-not-miss.

HOW I GOT THERE:

  • Flight from Athens.

WHAT I DID:

  • Quad Bike tour (do not fall off like I did, the other tourists find it very unsettling)
  • Kayak Tour with hot kayak instructor
  • Toga night- you wear a pink toga and make a million new best friends

*** tread very carefully with those Ouzo shot…

  • Attend the other organized nights, which I can’t remember because of the previously mentioned alcoholic beverage.
  • Lay on a sunbed and relax all day on the beautiful beaches.

“Ya mas!”
